Screwjack Lift Problem #9

HIGH WEIGHT and C/G

A common complaint of ScrewJack lift owners is...

"it would make a good boat anchor"

The quote above from a ScrewJack Brochure admits to the problem of excess ScrewJack weight and high center of gravity! The lift refered to in the quote above is not a standard ScrewJack Lift.

The large heavy battery on the ScrewJack lifts is located high on the handtruck near the handles. On a stairway with an empty ScrewJack Lift the operator has approximatly the same weight in his hands as a sack of concrete, an anvil, or if you look on the bright side, Jenny McCarthy! The Escalera StairClimber is constructed of a combination of aluminum and steel. The unit is very lightweight and has a very low center of gravity, in fact the Escalera StairClimber has less handle weight than a NON-powered steel appliance dolly
